If you get a decent looking quote on a comparison site -- ring that company direct to discuss --- many web based systems will reject an IVA, whereas the company will actually accept you.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

I had no problem getting monthly insurance through Direct line - they don't come up on any of the comparison sites and i pay 33 per month which i don't think is too bad.
IVA started Jan 2012
Last payment made June 2014 @100p
Completion certificate received Sept 2014

I always managed to get monthly payments but mrs plasticdaft was refused lasy year so paid it on her vanquis card. Seems strange as our credit ratings and history are almost identical.

never ever just accept your renewal price, its the equivalent of setting fire to your cash.

always always shop around. My renewal this year was £368 with insurepink and I git it down to £202 with admiral(fully comp).

As other have said shop around.
In the last week I have the renewal for my car insurance come in £670 with RAC. On line £358 full comp with esure with the same cover. saving £312.
RAC breakdown renewal £248. on line with AA same cover £135 saving £113.

Total saving this year £425. It pays two shop around.
IVA now over with and it was worth it.
now starting my life again,
