I received my C.O.C in November and have spent around a month or so monitoring my credit file with the 3 agencies, basically my credit files with both Equifax & Experian are now clear of all credit accounts and the IVA which have dropped off after 6 years. CallCredit still has 2 showing but only because they have the default date incorrect, meaning they will not fall off until 16th Jan, but that's not a problem.

My wife & I have decided to take a celebratory trip to New York in March, and I am concerned that our hotel will require a credit card upon check in, not definitely, but in my experience they normally do,plus a credit card is very handy out there, obviously we do not have a credit card at this time only our Santander Visa Debit cards which I doubt will be accepted in the USA
Can anyone suggest any credit cards that we could apply for at this time, who are quite likely to accept us obviously although we have a clear credit report, this could make it just as difficult to obtain a card as we have no history to check.
What I do not want to do is to apply and be turned down and then that being logged on my nice clean credit file.
I would be very grateful for any hints or tips on this matter.

Cheers All,

FF

If everything has cleared from your files you could try any high street lender, but remember that past creditors may well retain their records and share with partner organisations so you may struggle.

Vanquis is one provider who is friendly to people who have had past credit problems.

I recently applied for a Barclaycard Freedom card and have a credit limit of £3500 given to me - all our credit records are clear of IVA, but we still have a couple of defaults to clear this month and next.
