Hi all....I'm still visiting from time to time, and thought I'd give you all an update.
Melanie Giles and her fantastic team helped me to sort out a full and final settlement about a year ago after many many years of struggling to keep my head above water.
This final settlement allowed me to completely clear my debts (now also off the insolvency register), and allowed me to fulfil a lifelong ambition to start a degree (albeit at the age of 35!!)....
Just thought I'd drop this message in to all those just starting out on this long road, believe me, it is worth it.
Three years ago, I would never have dreamed that I would be sitting here, about to start the second year of my Open University degree, with a very real prospect of a future.
Currently, I'm working part-time while I'm studying, but this part-time work, along with the help of my wonderful father, has allowed me to get back on my feet after 17 years of struggling, and 15 years basically paying every penny that I earned to pay off loans.
Melanie and Tina (and the rest of her team) really helped me turn my life around, and although not yet working full-time, my degree is taking up most of my time at the moment, but hopefully in the long-term, it will all be worth while.
To all those who are just starting out, or who don't know which way to turn, I'd just like to say, stick with it. You are among friends here, and I promise that the tunnel is not as dark and as long as you may think it is at the moment!
x
Now debt free after F&F in July 2012.

Fabulous to hear how you are getting along - and that the IVA and the generosity of your father has enabled you to get to this stage. Keep at the study - it doesn't matter how old you are so long as you are enjoying the subject and it is leading to a new career for you.

I was thinking of you on Saturday whilst I was at the England v Australia game. Great result at the end of the day, but the best bit was Steve Finn losing the ball in the perimeter tubing!
Regards, Melanie Giles, Insolvency Practitioner
