Hi
Wonder if anyone can help!!
Been told this week that we need IVF to have our own family. As my hubby already has children from a previous relationship we are not entitled to IVF on the NHS....we need to pay £5k for the treatment.
You can imagine how gutted I feel. Any ideas what IVA Company would suggest? Just a bit devastated at the minute!
Thanks

Hi,
First of all I would contact other health authorities, as they all have different criteria. When we first got married, I had children from a previous marriage and had undergone the "snip", which I had paid to get reversed. However we were still candidates for a couple of rounds of IVF (which we never followed through as nature intervened :-) ).
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

I certainly cant see an iva firm offering a payment break to fund IVF I'm afraid.

I normally insist that life isnt put on hold just because of debt but unless you could borrow from family (and pay back once the iva is finished), I really dont see any way round this.

Remember that post iva you will soon be able to save up £5k, especially when its for something so important!

May be worth investigating Foggy's suggestion in the first instance.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Foggy - thanks for your advice - I will definitely look into that.

Plasticdaft - sorry but your comments don't really help - I am 34 years old - would be 28 by the time IVA finishes - not the greatest of ages to be starting a family.

I would rather go BR than not be able to pay for IVF...will see what happens with Foggy's idea - and thanks again all of you.

My comments werent meant to be helpful, but more realistic in nature. I know where you are, it took us 5 years to have our son and the heartache throughout put us off trying for any more!

Good luck and please accept my apologies for any offense caused.

I know exactly how you are feeling having gone through the same trauma a number of years ago. Heartbreaking to be told you cannot have your own children ...IVF is an option and there are other agencies that may be able to help you ... Like foggy suggests consider looking further afield and seeing what other options there are.

For us we were not able to pursue the option .... We considered and looked into both fostering and adopting ... Just another option to consider.

Try and stay positive ..i know how very hard this is and the financial issues that it brings ... best wishes x
Sharing from experiences of dealing with debt

There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !
