Hi, Im reaching the last year of my IVA. But i've recently been asked by my employers to be aware that i am automatically enrolled onto the pension scheme unless i opt out due to the governments auto-enrolement scheme. I do actually want to start a pension before it is no longer available to me, but not sure if i can start a pension at the moment?. I would like to add that i have 14 months left on my IVA and my payments would not be affected if i did start a pension. I do not currently have any pension for the future and would like to plan and contribute now. I am with grant thornton, but would anyone have any information on this? any feedback would be great

If you can manage the pension costs from your allowances set with no further impact on your IVA payments then there is no reason why you cannot start to plan for your retirement - in fact I personally would encourage you to do so. I would however encourage you to speak to your IP to have this noted on your file.
