Why are CCCS giving out advice like this to their clients? As the debt provider of choice for many of the main lending institutions, I simply cannot understand their position on rental property. Am I missing something? Hopefully the CCCS representative on the forum may pick this up and be able to comment?

Even if they decide they cannot do an IVA due to the self-employed nature of the rental income - don't they have a relationship with Grant Thornton where they refer cases across?

Anthony - I would give one or two companies a call either via www.iva.com or speak to some of the experts that post on here - they come recommended.

It is so depresingly predictable that an ill-advised DMP has come from CCCS.

A 20 year DMP seems such a long time with a family to enjoy. I hope an IVA is an option for you to consider. May still be that you chose a DMP but at least you will have had all the facts.

Hi Anthony.78,

CCCS do consider IVAs for those with more than one property, but it depends on your current circumstances. It would be best to give us a call so we can advise you further.

Regards,

Peer on behalf of CCCS
CCCS is a registered charity. We take great pride in offering first class help and advice, but we only offer this where we have been able to fully explore and understand your circumstances with you. We want to help you understand these choices and their possible implications but not make them for you.

Hi

Stating "no it's not possible because you own two properties" is taking away a persons choice !!

thankyou for commenting peer, we did ring up and were told it was not possible because of owning two properties, no other reason was given. we have sought advice now regarding the matter and will keep everyone updated. its amazing how after just one phone call we feel slightly more positive, for the first time in months, fingers crossed all goes well :)

That is poor advice if the reasons given were not justified. A great shame that you have had to move elsewhere, but thankfully you have now found a firm with a little more vision and forethought. Best of luck with your IVA application.

Hi

Really good news and it's a good job you found the forum and received a second opinion. I wonder how many other people are in a similar position and stuck with never ending DMPs under the CCCS ??
