Hello Everybody

I just been reading a few posts on here about the length of time some people wait for their certificate, in some cases six to twelve months! Is this normal?!

I only have three more payments to go and although I wasn't expecting to get my certificate overnight I was kind of hoping it would be fairly quick! I gave birth to my first baby in January and I just want to draw a line under my IVA as soon as i've made my final payment and get on with life but if theoretically it could take another six months after my final payment to get closure then it'll just feel like I still have that dark cloud looming over me [:(] It's sad but I feel like I can't fully enjoy being a Mummy because my IVA is always in the back of my mind.

Congratulations on nearly getting to the end of the IVA tunnel. Exactly how long you have to wait for your completion certificate will depend on who your IP is - some firms seem to manage it in less than a month whereas others are more like 6 months at the best.

Hi

Thank you for your replies.

I'm with Melanie Giles and I think she must be one of the quicker companies because there doesn't seem to be any complaints from anyone about waiting ages for their certificates from her! So that's good! I was just curious to know whether six months was the norm, if it was then at least I could start mentally preparing myself now for the wait, lol!!

It's good news for you then - Mel has often posted that it should take no longer than 2 months to issue the completion certificate.

Put it like this DL - there is no way that I am doing an unecessary annual report when a closure will take the same amount of time to do and we can close another case! We are ready to close yours down - so long as you confirm that you have no mis-sold PPI claims which may require further investigation - and I don't think you will be kept waiting for too long.

Contact Laura if you need further explanation of our ongoing PPI exercise.

Hi DevonLassie. Congratualtions on the birth of your baby! I love Melanie's posts - she has such a 'common sense approach' to such matters. I wish you and your family all good things for the future. X

My last payment was April 2011 over 1 year ago and the annivesary of my IVA is approaching this month, does this mean I may possibly have another annual report?
