My IVA started in 2007 and my final payment should have been February 2012. I received a letter before Christmas to advise that my payments should be extended for a further 12 months when I rang DFD they told me that it was because I had not reached the 60pence in the pound that was originally agreed. Over the last 5 years I have never missed a payment which were£520 per month. As a couple we have financially struggled we have been unable to start a family or move on with our lives because of this debt. I thought I was doing the right thing by entering into an IVA but I can honestly say I have revived no help or support from DFD.I stopped my direct debit payments to them and have asked for a full breakdown of where all my payments have gone I am still waiting for this. I contacted DFD to ask again why I am being asked to pay another 12 months they said that our property has been valued and there is equity in the property they have used an website called zoopla , so I checked the website and my propert is worth £90,000 with a mortgage of £97,000 where is the equity.????? I was asked if I could take out a loan or borrow the money from friends or family to make a final payment to my IVA I think borrowing money got me into the mess to start with ......I have paid over £31,0000 back with the IVA I am sure if I was a company I would have been advised to go bankrupt I am thinking of writing to the financial ombudsman for the way I have been treated during my IVA I wanted to pay something back for the debt I accrued but maybe I should have listened to others and gone bankrrupt. My partner is now refusing to contribute as he also feels that the past 5 years have been a stressfull and hard time. I am sure I read a post on the forum which said no equity no Extended payments. Can anyone help because DFD don't wan t know .
