Just thought an IVA is for the Individual and everybody who is in a IVA has different circumstances but If ( and that's a big if ) you make it through 5 years or 6 the benefits are enormous as this money you have been paying out is yours.I was paying out over £600 a month obviously having a high debt but now had made my final payment this extra is mind-blowing so what I'm trying to say is I know it's difficult but persivere but at the end the rewards are great but hardwork to avhieve
I agree the end is well worth the wait!! Now I get to save this extra cash since completion and it's mine to spend how I want with the slate wiped clean I'm sticking it all in a cash ISA for now.
I want to put my savings to good use and put down a deposit on a house someday if a lender will have me that is
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.
An encouraging post. I'm almost there and I'll be accruing some savings as soon as I'm finished, but first a treat for daughter and hubby as they're the ones affected. Might even treat myself too. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Yes the rewards are amazing. It's strange isn't it, but the transformation to your life is truly incredible. Still not got a lot of savings, but have managed to change both family cars, and started to decorating and putting the house back together. Now when I hear the news about the cost of inflation, and people panicking about the mortgage increases etc... I feel kind of smug (not nice I know), that I can now deal with these increases without it affecting my standard of living and still have some surplus cash each month. To all of you just setting out on the journey, part way through or close to completion, the outcome will definately outweigh the struggle you are facing right now. Good luck you are on your way to an amazing future.
Must admit, ive just had my first no payment of iva month and its been great, ive had a couple of meals out, day trips been able to buy a round at the pub. Little things that i just haven't done for years. I will admit and if you read my blog i did go a little crazy, but ive reigned that in now, next month saving and being frugal again!!
Really want to save enough for a holiday and treat the OH hoping to go away in novemeber so will be a big treat for her.
Some inspiring posts there - boosts the spirits of those just starting and those of us plodding on!!

The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.
