Today I received a letter from Mackenzie Hall.

When I rang them I was told that it was concerning my old Kay's catalogue account.

This was paid and cleared in 2004 at the latest.

I firmly, but politely told the clerk this, and also stated that since the last payment was no later than 2004 and no debt had been acknowledged since this date any possible debt was now statute barred.

I also stated that any adverse entry on my credit reports would be forcefully disputed.

The clerk then said that a note would be placed on the account file and that this would be referred back to their client (Kay's) for comment.

Since the debt is old (pre-IVA) it is my firm belief that this was merely a fishing trip to see if I was stupid enough to make a payment.

I expect at least one more follow-up to try to get a payment: I may be crazy but I am not stupid.

I think it probably was - it will be statute barred anyway now after six years.
