I have checked my credit report and although i completed my IVA in dec 09 it shows that i have a default with barclaycard. how do i remove this from my credit report as none of the other lenders i was with before my iva are on my credit report and i asume this is why my bank won't give me a current account, i just have a basic account.

have you contacted the credit controller at barclaycard with a copy of your certificate?

There are soe great template letters in the other area of the forum with guidance of the onbudsman etc
IVA completion and certificate received 08/10/2012!!!

A default will remain on your credit file for 6 years from when it was registered. If the default was registered after the start of your IVA then you have the right to get it backdated, if it's been 6 years then deleted.

Assuming here that the IVA ran for 5/6 years here and was not a F&F IVA then it should not be there and you'll need to write to the Barclaycard Data controller to delete it.

Write to this address

The Data Controller,
Barclaycard,
Barclays Bank,

We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

Good luck with Barclaycard.

I have now sent them 3 copies so far this year of my IVA acceptance in 2006 and completion in 2007 and they still have not updated the default date on my credit reports as it currently shows it 4 months later than actual.

They are now stopping me from clearing my credit rating.

All I can suggest is make sure anything you send them is by recorded delivery.

If they are refusing to remove it Squawky then escalate the problem to the ICO.
