I need advice on whether I am likely to be able to get a mortgage post-IVA (ends this month).

I have a good job and income but obviously a terrible credit history at the moment.

My wife has a small amount of income and owns our house (not part of the IVA) but probably not enough income to re-mortgage for the amount we need (we want to extend). She has lots of equity (over 80%). She also has another property rented out but we really don't want to sell it unless we have to.

So in a nutshell I'm income rich but credit poor and my wife is income poor but credit and equity rich.

Anyone know a good IFA who might be able to help or have any advice? I know the 6 year rule for defaults etc but wondered i anyone has recent experience in this area.

Thanks for any replies

Hi Hunter, nice to see you and hope you are well.

You can get a mortgage post IVA - some of our posters have managed to do just that.

We have a mortgage advisor who posts on here now, his name is Ryan and you can find his contact details under the 'Ask a Question' link on the left hand side of the page.

Give him a call and he will be able to advise.

Contact Ryan and he will discuss with you your own circumstances. Any independent mortgage broker who uses the whoe of the market may be able to help.

Good luck !

Ryan is brilliant!

Sorted us out a mortgage using my wifes property as security and we can now extend.

Would recommend him to anyone - I thought we couldn't get the money we needed but I was wrong!
