Hi all
hope you are all well.
I just have a quick question.

On Friday hubby had a car accident, he is fine (walked away unharmed, luckily) but our car is a write off (our 13yr old ford escort :( ) .

Police were involved but the other driver has admitted fault and is being reported for dangerous driving....anyhoos the other persons insurance company have been on the phone already and offered hubby a settlement, this is for the car and loss of earning.

I know we have to inform our IP (hubby is emailing them today) but will our IP allow us to keep the settlement so we can buy another car as we both need 1 for work.

We were hoping our little work horse would last until the end of our IVA (sept 12) but fate it would seem has intervened!!
Take care everyone in the snow
shy bairns get nowt, the worst your IP can do is say no!

Hi I would like to think you'll be allowed to replace the car as without it there would be no work. so long as they're in the loop and know what's what they'll hopefully see the car as a necessity to be replaced.

Glad your hubby is ok and hope the car situation is cleared up soon. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi

Yes, you will be allowed to use the payout to fund a new car. Keep your IP informed though

Absolutely - your IP will allow you to keep the money and purchase a new vehicle. Thank goodness your hubby walked away unhurt - a car although essential is nothing compared to individuals involved x
