Hi,

I have a VAT bill due mid december, the last bill to pay as we closed our business end of August so its the last bits and bobs to pay off!!
However we cannot pay it as usually it was paid by the business and we are entering a DMP first and then going into an IVA in a good few months (paying off other debts first etc, complicated!!
anyway VAT is taken into account for an IVA but not DMP so i was wondering how to approach HMRC, how do they react to non-payment, can they wait a couple of months?
Need to contact them but unsure how they will react!

Sorry I can't answer your query, but would advise you to contact them and resolve this query as soon as possible - I know HMRC respond better to customers who are upfront with them and will support you where they can within their guidelines and flexibilities.

Hi

Offer them only an affordable amount, it would be better to have your income and expenditure form to hand so that you can work out how much you can afford and pass this onto them if needs be. They are unlikley to take legal action for several months so a payment each month should keep them at bay until your IVA is proposed
