Hello,
After reading a previous forum subject I noticed that you can change your IP? Is this difficult? What would be the main reasons for this? Would it cost?

I sometimes get the feeling that I am second rate citizen with my IP and that they are doing me a favour. Although they are providing a service they are being paid for it!
Regards

Unfortunately Scimi it is nigh on impossible that you can change your IP. It would cost an awful lot of money to do so.

I think you may be referring to the fact that some IP companies have been taken over by others.

It is sad to learn that clients often don't feel valued by their IP or members of their staff - when we all should remind ourselves who it is who actually pays our mortgages at the end of the day. Why not arrange to have a little chat with your IP and explain to them how you feel - they may well be horrified to learn that they give the impression of not caring about you, and sometimes we all need a bit of a kick up the behind!

Scimi how far into the IVA are you?

If you are unhappy you should firstly complain through your IVA firms complaints department, keeping records of what and when you complained about(complaints it would appear go missing from time to time so you can find yourself sounding like a stuck record). You can then complain to the regulatory bodies.

If it is totally unworkable you could allow the current IVA to fail and find another company to represent you but this would mean going back to square one.

The moral of the story is to make sure you are happy to work with your chosen firm from the outset, and never ever just speak to one company for advice. Get a feel for them as 5 years is a long time to be stuck with someone you cannot rely on or trust.

Hi,as paul says above that is an option. Ours failed after 3 years for loads of reasons. We got another with dfd best move ever. Straight forward and helpful. Make sure you speak to your ip and try everything to resole things first. We would have finished our iva in two years but weren't working all hours to make a payment we couldn't afford and make ourselves ill in the process. Get expert advice from your ip and another even. Hope it works out

Hi scimi & welcome from me.

Please contact your IP & try to get any of your issues resolved before you do anything drastic.
I had a terrible start to my IVA journey & I felt as though I had been mislead into a IVA as we were struggling terribly. I found the forum whom gave me the courage to speak up to my IVA company. Once I had done they were brilliant & got us on a steadier track to getting through our IVA, that was 8 months into & now look where we are & we are much happier.
Good luck & let us know how you get on.
Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X
