Thanks everyone for your welcome advice.

I was accepted for a flex account yesterday with Nationwide though admittedly I was surprised as I admitted to them that I was looking at entering into an IVA but they were fine with it so I am just waiting for my new account details. I told them I didn't want an overdraft and they are going to transfer my direct debits from one of my accounts. Nationwide told me I could open two accounts if I wanted them to arrange the transfers from both of my existing accounts but I just want everything in one place so told him I would arrange the other transfers myself.

Last night I spoke with Tina from Melanie Giles who was so professional and very supportive and after a long conversation and after having gone through my income and expenditure with her I told her that I am happy for Melanie Giles to proceed with my IVA application. Tina also advised me to stop all payments to my creditors immediately and use the money for a contingency fund.

I have now cancelled all direct debits to my creditors but rather than speak to them immediately thought it better to advise them just before the payments are due rather than have them all on my back at once. My head is all over the place at the moment as I am entering into the unknown and dread the thought of the IVA being rejected.

This forum is so good and it is a real comfort knowing that I am not alone, it's reassuring to read about other peoples experiences and know that there is so much support out there. Thanks again everyone.

Excellent news! Glad Nationwide have been supportive. We've had no problems with them.

You've picked an excellent team to work with and I am sure you will be fine. The forum is also here for you if you have any questions.

Hopefully you won't get too much hassle from the creditors - you can always refuse to answer the phone or the security questions if they do get through to you.

What I would advise, if you have any online accounts with any of them - go in and remove telephone numbers before they get a chance to send them to call centres.

well done you, you've done a lot! we found Tina so easy to talk too.don't be frightened of getting in touch with her or here when you have a "wobble",it helps.

i think we all felt scared that our IVA would be the "once in a blue moon" rejection, take heart from that. emotions can be so up&down, you'll be ok,hug x

Well done dont worry too much you have made the first steps now and everybody in here knows how you are feeling at this time coz we all been there You just have to stay strong and focus on getting your paperwork together dont worry about what may or not happen ok Wait for it to happen before dealing with it You will be fine in 2 months all this will be sorted and you will feel a lot better and happier You just have to admit to your self you maed the problem and now you are going to get yourself out of it Sure its not easy but who wants an easy life right You are paying back what you are struggling to pay now So its a win win situation for everybody concerned

We got Nationwide to transfer all of our direct debits across and had no problems at all with them.

I am sure everything will be fine.
