The co op are known to be iva friendly. There are a few others, just make sure you ask for the most basic no frills account,no overdraft or chequebook. And make sure you open an account with someone you dont owe money to.

We are with the Co-op. It's a cashminder account for us naughty people. It can only be opened over the phone or in a branch but can be mmaintained on-line after it's set up. You get a debit card with the account. We have had no problems with them and they are very helpful on the phone.

Barclays and Lloyds are ok as well I think.

Just don't touch HSBC or First Direct - they will turn you down flat.

Lloyds are good to me. I opened my account in the early stages of setting up my iva -so I can't say how good they are once an iva is in place.

They were one of my creditors so I couldn't use them.

If you set up an account before going for the IVA then you can usually get a normal bank account.

I did keep my Barclays account open (Barclaycard were a creditor) and it' still going. My mobile phone contract is paid through there.

Natwest, I rate highly, although I do have a full Smile account I don't use. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I know with my Barclays one that if I don't use it they'll make it inactive and it's a bit of a pain to reactivate it (had to do it once) and once the IVA is completed we will probably use this as our main account once again.

I sometimes transfer an exact amount over for daughter who has to take cheques to school and the school cashes them, so I do use it periodically for that so it should be ok. x

You should be ok then if you still use it - we'd let the Barclays one lapse and I needed to send a cheque so we had to reactivate the account.
