Hi, I put foward a F&F offer 4 weeks ago, IP has finally sent it to her supervisor who had a quick flick through and said 'The 15k offer may have to be looked it, as its a redundancy payment, I can keep 6 months pay, IP on hols for 2 weeks now'.
My earnings were £2200pm and redundancy was £26. The 15k was £0.68p (ish) in the pound, total debt £24k then reduced to £21k at start of IVA. I had paid £5k over the last few years).
As i offered £15,400, the 6 months I would keep is £13,000 - which leaves only £13k to do a F&F with.
It makes no sense. Anyway, my post is because I am frustrated that 4 weeks on it has only just gone to the supervisor and now there is another 2 - 3 week delay. I have had to spend £3500 as my Dad died last Sunday and the funeral had to be paid for,
when I get that money back from Mum is unknown I have £21k, and i know your not meant to spend any until its all sorted but I had to pay for the funeral. Its just one stress after another, and its driving me bonkers

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad first of all, that is stress enough to deal with without all the additional stuff.

I hope someone hear will be able to help you, I do hope you get it sorted soon

So sorry to hear about your loss - and I would not worry about the funeral charges as your IP would be hearless if she did not allow you to retain that sum.

Basically any offer you like can be put in front of creditors, and your IP has a duty to do so whether she feels that it is a viable offer or not - but do be guided by her advice as she is the expert and ought to know what creditors will be looking for. Generally the retention of up to six months salary equivalent is allowable in the eyes of creditors, but you could broker more if you can demonstrate that it may take longer for you to find work - do you live in an unemployment blackspot for instance, or do you have limited skills to offer to a new employer?

Please don't let this stress you any more than it has already. Right now your Mum needs you to be her support, and you need to grieve quietly for your Dad. Your IP is not away for long, and you can tackle her about this when she gets back - remembering that it is your offer to make and not hers.

Mel - I've often wondered why so few professionals post on here. I'm beginning to think that you, Michael and the others that do are probably the ones that see people as humans (even though you are bound by your laws). I know in my dept of the civil service I am always picking up on staff treating customers like just another phone call not thinking of how they are feeling and I think it's lovely the way you all post and put people at ease.

Well done from me!!

You may not know this kassafunk, but a long time ago I used to work with Michael and I would like to think that I helped him to be the boy he is now, but in reality he always was that person. I did not, however, introduce him to Barry Manilow - he got there on that one all on his own!

We shared the same ethos then as we do now in our respective firms - and that is to never take the hand that feeds us for granted, and to remember that there is a human being with a family behind the client.

Melanie, having looked at numerous posts from you over the past couple of weeks it has become all to evident that you really do have a considerably difefrent ethos towards your clients than a large number of others and for that I applaud you. However I have a question to ask you.....looking at the times of most of these posts do you ever sleep? Don't make yourself ill because we need you!
