Hi,
Coming to the end of my IVA in September (got about £1500 left to pay) , however my wife is pregnant (10 weeks) so need to start saving and organising the house for the new arrival. It will be our 2nd child so need to start making arrangements. I had a variation few months ago which was accepted (reduction in payments) as needed to move to a larger property. Now not sure what options I have got, was considering asking for them to accept what I have paid as full and final (paid over £20,000 back so far into the iva). Stressing me and the wife ……again. [:(]and it was pointed out to me on the 1st child "if you cannot afford to have children you shouldn't have them" by our IVA provider.
fair comment but it wasn't planned .

Hi dips,

That comment from your IVA provider is extremely unhelpful. How many months do you have left?
Take care,

May be worth just finishing you IVA off - then you dont have the iVA status to worry about. Baby wont notice the diffrence for a few years if the place is cramp or he/she has not got the 25 teddies or the most uptodate pram. By the time a meeting is arranged to will have made another few payments. If you hang on in here i sure somone else may have a diffrent viewpoint.

Best Wishes to you both on the new expected arrival

Hello - only your IP can give you specific advice, but a further reduction in payments or a payment break may be possible. Could a family member lend you the money for a full and final? Then you can pay them back in a much more flexible arrangement.

I don't know what to say but mine also ends in September I'd try and stick with it if I were you I think make sure it comes to an end and then you can see the future and enjoy it more good luck a baby doesn't need designer trainers etc so by the time its finished it'll all be done in a flash hopefully all the very best

If t'were me I would make a sprint for the finish line, so that when baby arrives it's all done and dusted. Almost as baby puts in an appearance, your income will increase by the amount you no longer have to pay to the IVA, a couple of months saved payment will see you right.

As for the IP's comments --- to be honest if you had to wait until you could afford a baby the human race would die out !!!!!
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

The IP should not make comments like that, your life doesn't have to go on hold just because you are in an IVA.

As to a full and final, you will find that by the time a meeting comes round a couple more months will have gone by. I think I'd just stick with it now.
