It is brilliant when you can get your creditors onside - doesn't happen often and I know Mercers were my worst nightmare as they chose to ignore the fact that I wrote and told them I was going for an IVA and would only deal with letters and it was constant phone calls.

Hi, I contatcted my IP and let the company do the letter writing.I cancelled [:D]thing straight away and opened a new account the day I spoke to my IVA company. I did keep getting calls at work, though don't know how they found my number... after contacting the IP again I was advised that to simply tell the company, Yorkshire Bank, to simply remove the number from theri database or I will contact OFCOM. they called again about 10 minutes later and then I respectfully asked them again to remove the number. after a couple of days they started again and unfortunately for the caller, they felt the full force of my temper, turns out they were trying from different departments to get payments, but finally I got the last caller to confirm, whilst on the phone that the number had been deleted. at long last. I then had a debt collector arrive on my door, but I simply spoke at the doorway and advised him that I was in an IVA and gave him the number. after that he went away and left notes through the door and finally came back when only my 12 year old son was just in from school. that was it, I lost it with him and again advised the number of IP, who were fantastic by the way. that was the end of that. then came letters from 2 different companies that had apparently now bought 2 of my debts. Though they were trying to get money from me for legitimate debts, I could not help but feel sorry for them as the original companies failed to mention that the debts were part of an IVA and that they had actually payed more for the debt than they would ever get back. "Oh well, everyone seems to be out to make a quick buck".
I have now had the 1st year review sorted and glad I went through all this, 15 months down and 45 to go. can't wait to be debt free and never again will I have a credit card.
Good luck and hopefully all will be good for you. [:D]
Onwards and Upwards...
