Hi,

It will make no difference at all whether you speak to them or not.

I never answered any phone calls from mine.

Hi Alfie
It makes no difference at all whether you answer the calls or not. They are made using an auto dialler into a call centre, and have no bearings on the way your creditors vote. It is up to you whether or not you answer them. Personally I did answer and advised my IP's name and date of creditors meeting once I had it and all except one creditor reduced calls to fortnightly for an update. They do stop eventually, so its up to you, some people on here have changed their tel no.

I have not answered any of the calls - my IVA is currently in the draft stsges.

I don't think it will have any affect on their decision.

I haven't paid any credit card payments either - not even a token payment as I need to start a contingency fund and have the 1st mths IVA payment ready to go.

Once my IVA is approved I plan to change my mobile number.

Try not to stress about the calls!!

It won't have any effect on their decision.

Tillergirl - once your IVA is accepted then there will be no need to change your mobile as your creditors should not be contacting you.

I didn't change mine.

Some people feel more comfortable in continuing to deal with their creditors, and others don't. At the end of the day it is a matter for personal preference, and the outcome at the end of the day is largely unaffected.

If you do not want to answer the calls I reccommend getting a number display unit connect it to your phone turnyour phone ringer/tone off if a number flashes up you do not recognize flashes up do not answer, also give your number of the land line or any mobile you have to only those people that really need it. Thats if the phone is in a convenient place of course.

A lot of creditors do private numbers, so you are a bit stuffed thre.

I would always recommend changing your number - tell your telecoms provider you are getting nuisance calls, and insist that you are ex directory if you do change.

I'm a couple of months in to the arranging of my iva and so far I haven't answered any calls, having said that it appears that the only ones that might have tried are HSBC but as it says Not Avail for the caller id I don't answer anyway. We've had regular letters from them all and HSBC have sent weekly letters for one of the cards saying that they have attempted to contact us. I send copies to my Case Admin and have decided today to send a copy of the letter i sent to all creditors with IP details to the signatory on the letters...as it seems to be the same person every time. Hopefully it will reduce the paperwork they send out.

I also haven't made any payments as I feel it is more important to have an amount of money in the bank as a contingency and for the first payment. Its probably just as well as we seem to have a few things that need buying, not including christmas, though most of it so far has come off saved vouchers and paypal.

I doubt it will make any difference Karin, I wrote to Barclaycard all the time but they never acknowledged any of the letters. HSBC just tried to get us deeper into debt.

We did 'Choose to refuse' but they just changed the numbers. Much easier to change your number and go ex-d.
