Hi all,

We had some bad news a couple of weeks ago that my partners Grandad died.

I just have a question about inheritance. In the Will it states that my partner is due to get £10000. Will the OR want any or all of this, do we get to keep any.

Thanks for your help

I'm sorry to hear about your partner's Granddad.

I take it your partner hasn't been discharged? If he hasn't, unfortunately the full amount will have to be paid to the OR.

Your partner will unfortunately have to pay the money into the bankruptcy, if he has not yet been discharged Kazza. What bad news for all of you.

I'm the same. My Grandma left me a fair sum, most of which was used to shore up the debt for 18 months or so. I have £5k ish left in a bond due to mature on 17 May, 2 years and 1 day from the day she died, all of which will be given up to creditors.

However, if I wasn't in an IVA or even BR then that would too have gone to shore up the finances too so it's quid pro quo really.
7 year IVA completed in December 2016 - there is light at the end of that tunnel
