You should notify your IP as it is a change of circumstances. However, depending on the level of the award there may not be an increase in your voluntary contributions as the DLA is for assistance in your care and mobility. If you can show your IP the money is to be used for those specific purposes it may be deemed irrelevant.
The rates vary greatly for DLA awards from less than £20 per week to £120 per week if you receive the higher rate care and mobility. Your IP will take all this into consideration but it is essential you inform him/her to discuss their view and any modifications proposed and accepted at your meeting of creditors.
Hubby gets DLA as well as incapacity benefit. The latter forms part of his income for the IVA. The DLA is used to fund a motability car and so doesn't get counted.
Are you aware that as you are on DLA, you can get loft and cavity wall insulation done free?

We had ours done for free because we had at least 2 children under 16, don't know how that one worked but I think it was a council initiative.....the cost would have been more than £300 if we had it done privately! We could have had cavity wall done for free too but we already had it!
7 year IVA completed in December 2016 - there is light at the end of that tunnel
I thought we already had cavity wall - turns out we didn't and ours is 20 years old so I thought we would have it but sadly not.
Can't believe the difference it has made to the warmth in the house.

We can't have cavity wall insulation as we have solid brick walls. We've already got double glazing, but sadly the previous owners didn't have the front door replaced at the same time - if only I could get a grant to replace that! The hall wouldn't resemble a wind tunnel then!
