I have been in my iva with your team for 6 months and everything has been going swimmingly. Unfortunately last month I had to make a reduced payment (I pay £340 a month an only paid £140) due to an unexpectd car repair. I agreed to catch up this month.disaster has struck now and my car has died again. Ive took it in for repair today and Im faced with a £450 plus bill. I have had to pay it as i need to get to work.
will there be any chance I will have the opportunity for a payment break for this month and last months part month. Im sick with worry and have emailed your team but they will have gone home by know.I knwo its not fair to discuss individual cases on the site but just wanted to know if this was at least a possibilty.
many thanks
andy

I'm sure that Mel will pick up on this, but I do know that she prefers to discuss individual cases offline.
She is usually very sympathetic though.

Anything is possible with a will to make things work and I am sure that Mel and her team will bend over backwards to help you through this.
It is a salutory reminder though to anyone thinking of proposing an IVA that you must make sure that you do have enough to cover those unexpected bills and not just agree to a figure simply to "get it through"
Now, whilst I cannot comment specifically on this case, or the way that Mel and her team operate, I am absolutely convinced that there will be enough allowances within your budget to cover this in the normal scheme of things, it just seems to be a case of sods law that this has happened before you have enough time to cover this. I should know, I have had a similar case post on here recently from another poster, but with enough effort either way then it should not be a massive issue so please try not to worry unnecessarily.

I have no problem in you seeking a payment break as you have suggested, and we will discuss the implications of this with you via e-mail or over the phone. Whilst you do have a car maintenance budget, it is clear that you may not have sufficient saved up to cover this unexpected item of expenditure. We do occasionally get these things happening, and are happy to try and help our clients through their difficulties within the remits of the proposal.
Laura will discuss this with you in greater depth tomorrow - but I don't want you having a sleepless night.
Melanie you truly are amazing posting late at night to enable others to get a peaceful nights sleep, I sleep badly over any little thing worrying me so can appreciate how your replies help others

Hope your conference goes well Melanie, I'm up trying to pen a marketing letter for College, totally out of my comfort zone but won't rest till it's done!
