Good Morning. Is it possible to request a payment break of 1 month whilst in an IVA? The reason being hubby has been off sick from work and therefore does not get paid, meaning no contribution to bills, rent, etc so I have to pay them all, leading to no money to pay my IVA. What would be the chances of me taking this payment break? I really do not want my IVA to fail, Im only 6 months in. Any help appreciated.

Speak to your case manager or IP straightaway and I am sure there will not be a problem. You can miss up to three payments without needing approval of creditors and the payments can be added on at the end if not made up beforehand.

Thank you ladyh for your kind words. You are very right in saying its a worry! Just when you think you get yourself sorted and on the right track along comes something else!! I have asked the question to my IVA provider, so now its a waiting game to hear the reply. Fingers crossed. I will let you know. [:)]

UPDATE. My IVA company have agreed to me missing this months payment, I can make it up over the next 12 months so as not to be in arrears. No I dont have to worry about the bills and food for the month and hopefully hubby will be well enough to go back to work. Trying hard to keep it together. This forum helps. Thank you to everyone. Sorry to hear your hubby is sick - let's hope he gets better and back to work soon - and great news that your IP is being helpful.

That's good news, and I hope your hubby is better soon.
