dont remember ever speaking to my IP, so cannot say how much work he does, or if he is worth the fees. With regard to the interest, must have only just changed to zero, as it was only a few weeks ago that I was told interest is charged.
Its not about (a) savings account or 50 savings accounts.
As Andy implies, its the money SAVED after your IVA was approved, should be no problems and with extra income declared. No different in principle to paying the right taxes and not tax evading.
Hi
Having met some Insolvency Practitioners I can tell you that they are worth every penny that they earn. They are highly regulated and have to balance the needs of the client with the needs of the creditor.
Not an easy task.
There is also a huge amount of work that goes into a proposal and there are times when an IP will do much work and receive no income.

Whats the average IP take home pay a month before tax? Anyone of our Ip's willing to let us know?
I think the point many people try to make is that not all Ip's are like the few we get posting on here, and thats where the problem lies!!!
Far too many of them are unavailable to take a simple 2 minute phone call yet earn thousands of pounds from us customers. Thats what annoys me the most.

I think whatever they earn is irrelevant. If you are happy with what you are asked to pay each month. I am of the opinion if you have done a fairs days work you should get a fair days pay and both David and Melanie work over and above a fair days work

Hi
You make a fair point about how some people find it very hard to actually speak with their IPs, this is an area that I am sure will improve as time moves on.

What I was trying to point out was that even the bad Ip's get paid a good wage and no IP should be OUT OF REACH!!!
I fully agree that Mel and David and a few others who post on here show a clear level of commitment that is way above and beyond what is to be expected of them. The IP's I was getting at are the ones who wont answer emails, phone calls etc etc yet charge several thousand pounds over the course of the iva.

Up to a point you are right and I hope as Andy says more and more IP's communicate through the efforts of Melanie and myself and others to ensure criticism of any IP on this forum is responded to. I for one knowing most in the industry get them to either respond on-line or off line. The beauty of this forum is that there is no hiding place.
However the time lag in receiving payments and waiting for up to 5 years for an average post Feb 2008 IVA of around £4,500 (that is £900 per year) is not that much!
But our Industry does need to clean up its act - and it is doing - but I would like to see it happen quicker. [^]

I have to say, i think anybody with David or Melanie as their IP is very lucky. They really do go that extra mile and they also give so much of their time freely to this forum.
Most IPs seal the deal and leave you to it. Mel and David dont only fight for their clients, they fight for debtors on the whole. They step in and contact other peoples IPs if they are having trouble making contact for themselves.
David has many tricks up his sleeve. He fights for fair treatment and to rid us of the Bankruptcy assist vultures.
Its such a shame not all IPs have their dedication. Hubby had a terrible time trying to get to speak with his IP. He was told that Mr Redmond does not take calls and he was advised not to try to make direct contact with him. Whats all that about?
Melanis and David have my upmost respect and deserve every last penny they earn
Hi plasticdaft, I think in a way we probably are saying similar things, yes you are right if you are paying good money for poor service then it is interesting to find out what you are being charged. If you are getting a god service like we get from Melanie and David then the important thing is the affordable monthly payments. Personally I wouldn't mind if all my monthly payment was kept by my IP as David has done a lot more for my situation then my creditors.

Melanie is my IP - my proposal has not yet been sent out but the work Melanie and her team have done and are doing for me has been enormous. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and Melanie's firm has not received one penny from me. I am very pleased I am with her.
Thank you - J is a little better but she does worry. I feel very safe indeed with Melanie and I am trying to be calm in the hope it filters through to my wife. People on here have helped her a great deal and believe me without this forum we both would have been round the bend by now
