Hi all. We are well into our second year of our iva. Its a 6 year one with a possible 7th year with the equity clause. I know entering into it was for the best but sometimes I just feel down about it all. My eldest will be 15-16 by the time we are done and that scares the life out of me. Sometimes, its just hard you know. I guess I was jus thoping for someone to tell me how they get by when they start feeling like this. When I hear people talking about savings etc, I just think, I wish!!
We have all felt like that during our IVA's - just be positive and think about what you can do with the extra money when you get to the end - possibly a holiday?

Thanks Kallis. Trying to remain positive and keep trying to think of payment as a loan. I think its just sometimes wishing we could do more with the little ones. I suppose at least all of this will be over before Uni time comes!
Exactly - we thought of it as a loan and once it was repaid it was great.
Daughter sorted out her own Student Loan for Uni - we had nothing to do with it.

We've all been there.
It's seems a long road but think of the no more debt feeling you will have at the end.
It can be a struggle
It can feel like your the only one
But every time you pass a hundred people one will most probably be in your shoes
You are not alone I found been a member of thus forum you can find answers to your questions and your worries
Also when you need to speak to your iva company the info from here can be very helpful
Today 1st of December 2016 the vultures finally flew away
I know exactly how you feel, having experienced many a month feeling the same, however, it does end and when it does, you'll hopefully look back like I do and think 'it was worth it'.
Hang in there and remember we're not only her for advice we are here for support too, so anytime you're feeling a little lost, give us a shout and we'll gee you I'm sure.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
We have all had those difficult times of feeling low and thinking there's no light at the end of the tunnel but I can assure you the time will fly by!Please don't let the IVA control your life as some do just live it albeit more frugally. When you feel low think of how much worse things would be without you being in control and being able to sleep at night and no more card bills dropping through the letter box or those phone calls. Treat the IVA as a loan as I have and forget about it apart from I&E time lol I only have 1 payment to make and to be honest it doesn't feel like 5 years have past since I made the first one! Be strong and remember how low you must of felt with the spiralling debt and think about the positives of being in control. Wish you every success and good luck
We've been where you are, and many a night upset wondering what we've let ourselves in for, but focussing on the end goal is where your mind should try to go!
I did the same as Kallis and Lesley in that we thought of our payment as a loan, and reminded ourselves of how things were before the iva and how lucky we are that we have an opportunity to set ourselves straight, for a better future for our family.
Setting yourself small goals to keep you occupied tends to help as they pass time, and you'll soon be at the end
Started IVA 27th Feb 2012 - Due to complete 27th Jan 2018 !!
Full & Final submitted and accepted 30th March 2015, paid 10th April 2015 - 3 yrs 1 month into IVA
Completion Certificate received- 30th April 2015!!
It's a looooooong haul indeed! I read all the people who have completed and think it will never be me but it will! (I suppose) I hope this blue mood passes for you! Funny I have been having trouble sleeping lately a bit like before IVA no full on panic mode though!
It is true, we All get like this, The trick is to concentrate on the positives, whilst regarding it as a 6 / 7 year loan. Mine, too, was due to be over at a "milestone" in my son's life, so I looked on that as a new beginning, a fresh chapter for both of us going forward.
In the meantime you have a degree of protection, no threats or worries about the phone ringing or giving the postie a hernia with all the bills he / she had to deliver.
Everybody has to live within a budget ( large or small). Just set yours and concentrate on making the best of it. I used to get quite Scrooge-like in hunting bargains (but the beans always had to be Heinz) -- in some ways I still am ( I enjoy it !!! ).
Finally --- think of the "pay rise" you are going to get in a few years. That extra money will be all yours and you will be debt free (and there aren't many in this "Sceptred Isle" who can say that).
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
As people have said we all have times like this , I'm coming up to my third review and will be in my fourth year the time has flown . By all means it's not been easy and have been skint till payday but have survived, I also treat it like a loan as well . It's so much better than before, I can sleep at night the constant knot in my stomach has gone , the end will come x
