We too have received a letter this morning asking us to re-do the whole "EIC" PPI process with another company. We see that the new company will be taking over 40% from the PPI proceeds as fees too! Have checked with EIC and their understanding is that they're still dealing with the PPI claims, apart from one creditor case where just last month Aperture (Grant Thornton) asked EIC to close it. Aperture's FAQs don't have one that says "What if we don't want another company dealing with something that EIC are already dealing with?". Not sure where to go with this now. Any advice from one of the sponsor companies on here would be much appreciated, especially as we are in the final year of the IVA and don't want the new PPI claim company taking 4 years to get nowhere as has been the case with EIC. Would have been much quicker and less stressful to deal with the PPI claims ourselves.
Refer back to GT saying that you appear to be caught in the middle of how they administering who has the right to act on your behalf (which you have to be careful about because if SHL get some PPI back EIC could argue that you still owe them as well).
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.
Thank you both for the responses. We'd certainly advise people to deal with their own PPI claims if they are able (plenty of letter templates etc on the Web). At least that way the full amount recovered goes towards paying off the debt, rather than just approx 60% of monies recovered. The letters sent out are very misleading regarding the huge fees paid to these PPI recovery companies and from where they are paid.
