Hi everybody, first of all Happy New year to everybody. I hope everything went ok over the xmas period? And i hope that everything goes well for everybody during 2016.

This year is going to be a big year for us as we should finnish our IVA in October!!

Ive just had a look at my credit file on Noodle and under my credit cards they all are registering Default every month.
Im just trying to get my head around what my file should say while in the IVA.

In fact all the creditors in our IVA on the report say default, is that right?

Is there anything i need to be doing leading up to the finnish besides still paying my IVA !!!!!!!
Many thanks

Baldy

Hi Baldy,
Just change the start date in your profile to a year later and it will adjust your finish date.

We have not bothering with our credit file until after the 6 year mark as even if the defaults go the IVA will still be on there, although we haven't got any defaults on ours just the IVA.

Just had another read of file on Noodle.

My credit card accounts were bought by Max Recovery and they all state that they started the default process in April 2013.

In fact our IVA started in Oct 2010.
Our Halifax a/c correctley states default from Nov 2010.

Thats not correct is it?

Defaults cannot be dated later than the iva start date. Your credit file can be amended by writing to the data controller at each creditor to get them to adjust the dates. Data cobtrollers addresses can be found on the ico website.

I'd start getting the default dates sorted right away.

Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

Hi HNY!

Creditors should amend the defaults to the start date of your IVA. Here's a link to a brief You Tube guide I made that might help you when it comes to cleaning it up:

Hi Everybody!!
Many thanks for your replys.
Had a great chat with a lady at Max recovery and she was really helpfull and she is going to get my default dates changed to tie up with the date our IVA was approved.

Spoke to Nationwide as well... really really helpfull. They had the correct date for one account we had but thay are going to amend the other account we had with them to the correct default date.
I know we have a little way to go but i really do want to make sure that end of this October2016 everything goes well!!!!

Thanks again for all your support.

A word of advice; don't wait to correct the credit files (and check all three - Noddle (free, shows Callcredit file), Clearscore (free, shows Equifax) and Experian. Experian is the only one which doesn't have a free way to access and their statutory report is, I feel, deliberately difficult to read/interpret. They want you to pay £180 a year for their 'service' instead!

The upshot is that already, my score has gone from 270 to 343 on Clearscore. I'm waiting to see what happens at the next Noddle date and, of course, Experian won't give me anything more than pages and pages of tables in what looks like computer-speak.

I picked up an erroneous BT error on there which was having a negative effect (now sorted) and I also applied for - and got - a credit card. One of the other negatives on my report was that I didn't have one. So now I do but it will only be used to put petrol in the car and paid off each month (petrol would go on the debit card anyway so it's just a slightly longer route). Nationwide initially told me they'd give me one that went with my bank account (which I pay for due to the benefits it brings). They subsequently reneged on that though which was annoying as it shows a 'hard search' in addition to the second one for the Luma/Capital One card. It's inconsequential in the grand scheme of things as I won't be applying for any more credit any time in the next couple of years but it was still annoying nonetheless!

I'm also in the process of ensuring that all my defaults align to the start of the IVA in order that they drop off as quickly as possible at the back end.

It's a bit of a ball-ache but ultimately worth doing - and seeing the score climbing already is very encouraging!
