Im worried about the future. Im not a home owner, i rent a room in someones house (no credit check) i dont want to do this forever! Im in my late 20's and im worried that this will be my life from now on as no credit checks will pass to own a home or rent. I feel that this iva was a mistake...im half way through and am petrified! Any advice welcome..

You can possibly rent if you have a guarantor and you could also try a private rental agency - which company are you with?

Hi Summer don't panic! How much are your debts? How much do you pay into your IVA? How long do you have left to go? In addition to what Kallis says not all private landlords carry out credit checks but a guarantor could be your way out if your credit was queried.

Summer, If you are half way through, Good on you!You have to keep a positive mind and think what position you would have been in without the IVA? Keep soldiering on with it, and when its over you can start putting life back on track, As Lisa says, not all Landlords undertake checks, and even if they do, having the IVA on there doesn't necessarily mean you would be declined a rental. A friend of mine applied for a flat with a very poor credit file, they checked, AND he got his flat! Keep you're chin up :)

Yes, be positive as there is light at the end of the tunnel - it will surely be over. Take it from someone who received CC this year.
