I have borrowed a bit to get through IVA. Will it fail if they find out ?

I know when my IVA was active, they charged for doing a full in depth credit search to check for any debts not included and any additional borrowing so i would say, yes they could easily find out
IVA started Jan 2012
Last payment made June 2014 @100p
Completion certificate received Sept 2014

Okay. Thanks for your advice everyone. Looks like I could be getting it cancelled then. I won't say anything and if they question I will explain and take it from there.

Hi there, I am with Harrington Brooks/ One advice

All of your unsecured debts should have been included in the IVA so I am surprised they didn't question it.

Which company are you with?

I guess being honest now may prevent a failure further down the line? I wouldn't want to run the risk of failing further on.

I agree with recovering - I think you should come clean to avoid problems later on.

I don't know how Harrington Brooks works so can only advise you to do as you think fit.

I wasn't using my shoe tailor account at the time the IVA was implemented so although the account was active there wasn't a Balance on it. All the debts I had at the time, except my bank overdraft was included. I've incurred a couple of newer ones since as I am sure everyone knows how hard and difficult life is and 5 years is a long time. I went two years without any. It's only this year since more expenses have been incurred with two weddings and a honeymoon to pay for plus bills increasing that it has been more difficult to keep your head above water and I don't have family to ask so I've had to find alternative ways to fund these expensive things.I think we did well as our wedding was only 6k in total and was a brilliant day but we cut lots of things out like bridesmaids, ushers, car and got friends to do things like flowers and cake for a smaller donation to keep it cheap so I don't think they can moan at me for that.

I will generate a good letter and send it to my IP and hopefully get him to understand how difficult life has been and so many changes since taking on the IVA. Thanks for your advice everyone.

Be prepared for the ip to insist that the credit card and catalogue accounts are closed.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

I best not tell them then. The catalogue account has 900 on it so I can't pay that off straight away and the credit card only has a limit of 250 so it is below the 500 threshold. I think I will stay quiet.

I would not advocate staying silent - these things have a habit of coming back and biting you on the rear end!!

You may find that the debts can be included in the IVA but you do need to tell your company about these.

But then if I need to get a item urgently like we did a new bed a year ago or I need some new clothes quick as I have gained or lost weight then I would be stuffed. It helps us get through the tough times. I am no way as silly with racking them up and I now always think of a purchase before I buy it. Unlike before where I maxed out all my credit and fell into the trap of helping my ex out. So I am responsible now. I just have one account that I use and a small credit card. That's enough. I don't need anymore. I also won't let the company increase the credit limit on my credit card and have a dd to pay the balance in full. Something which I never used to do. But sometimes things crop up and you need a buffer somehow. Also what's interesting is I send them my bank statement every year which shows I am overdrawn and the charges and they have never questioned that.

If you need something urgently then you can always ask for a payment break as I had to when the boiler packed up.

Clothing wise I used Ebay and I did (and still do) surveys which I can either get cash for or vouchers which I give out as Christmas presents.

I think we all know how hard an IVA can be but you agreed to conditions that included no credit. so really you will have to accept that your IP will insist this stops, I do think you can work out an way to deal with it but the sooner the better before it gets worse, As Kallis says you can request payment breaks for emergencies. I do hope it gets resolved for you
