hi my husband and I have 18mths left on our iva our review is due in October...our son has just turned 16 (march)and about to leave school and start a apprenticeship,does anyone know if hes wages be taken into account because he lives with us and would he still be classed as our dependent on our income and expenditure for food,mobile phone ect. thank you

Ours stayed the same until our son turned 18 then his allowances were deducted from original expenditure & our payments increased.they didn't ask for any of his income details. He was classed as independent once turned 18.
You could ring & ask your IP as other companies may be different.

I would expect the small income from his apprenticeship not to change your iva payment. You will still no doubt have the same costs attached if not more depending on location of his work and getting him there each day - although his income could help with this.

Dependent on which type of apprenticeship scheme they go on you may be able to keep child benefit, maintence etc.
We learnt the hard way about that.
A child is legally dependent until the age of 19 dependent on what time of the year they were born.
Current dwp rules make it almost impossible for someone that age to claim benefits.
When ours turns 18 we intend to claim the appropriate allowance for them under I&e but charge child housekeeping and send that to iva company. Balances everything out .
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

Thank you for all your replies .. Sorry for the delay in replying back .im new to the forum and didn't check my emails (it went into junk) ....
That's a weight off knowing he's still a dependant ,we will still be claiming child benefit for him as he's apprenticeship will be classed as education and I think your right it probably will cost us more to send him to "work" instead of school ,I will have a good look at our income and expenditure before renewal... Thank god it's our last one xx

Best advice is always to check and get written confirmation of things like this from your iva firm to back up what's been said on the forum.
