I have just been sent the paperwork for my annual review (iva with debt free direct). I have been informed that it will now include a home visit. This is my last review and I have never not completed the review and have no difficulty in providing the paperwork provided. I am not happy about being visited at home and cannot understand why it has changed for this review.

Hi Darren -- this seems to be the new M.O for DFD, many of their clients are getting personal visits. I would be interested in some feedback as to how the visit goes -- I cannot fathom the need or justification of the expense, but, that has nowt to do with me.

Seems bizarre. Zoopla would describe the house, Google earth would show it. Best hide all the art work! Waste of money unless they are trying to sell equity release loans? Am I too cynical??

I have the same thing ccuring tomorrow, I am outraged and consider it a privacy issue. I am not letting them in they can see the information outside.
What makes it worse is a completed my IVA 5 month ago and am just WAITING for the completion certificate, I haven't paid them for 5 month so all my bank statements etc will show I have money to spare!!

I think I'd be inclined to tell them that I was going to record everything and do so.

It makes no sense ... if they were trying to see the level of ££££s in someones house the visit would be more beneficial at the outset of the iva ....the likelihood is as you have gone through your iva you have sold some of the things that caused you to get into debt to make a little money ..... nonsense in my opinion.

DFD called last night to arrange the visit. Apparently it is a 5 minute visit to take a picture of the original documents required as part of the review. That is it. These are then sent electronically to them in order to save time and prevent loss of documents. Still not happy about having the home visit. Guess I'll find out if it is all they say when it happens.

Don't panic people they are not debt collectors.

I too cannot understand the expense they are going to unless they've had trouble with fraud from unscrupulous clients and they are trying to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Post on here as soon as it's done. People will be eager to know what it's about.

I am so sure they won't be secretly eyeing up valuables and looking for big TVs.

It's nice to see someone from DFD responding on here, that's a good sign I hope.

However, for the benefit of the forum members Evette, perhaps you are able to explain what these home visits are for and what to expect during them?

It would be very helpful and reassuring for everyone to understand what to expect.

An IVA can be a worrying journey and unknowns like this quite frightening.

I do hope you can respond to this sincere request and put minds at rest.

Thanks!
