I am very sorry to hear about your child and I am sure creditors would be sympathetic. Speak to your IP about a full and final settlement based on what has been paid to date and hopefully creditors agree to this. Try and provide whatever information you can for the variation as this would make it easier for your IP to call the variation. I hope it all works out for you.

How dreadfully sad to hear of this, and all I can say is your priorities must absolutely lie now in providing care and comfort for the little one, whilst looking after the rest of your family.

The hearts of the forum, and our prayers, will be with you - and if I were acting for you, I would have no hesitation to put forward a settlement along the lines of that which Michael has suggested.

Hi. So sorry to hear your news. I can only echo the advice given above. Who are you with ?

In the meantime, as these things can take a little while to set up, I would also suggest that you request a payment break for a while to give you a little more cash as well as one less thing to worry about for a while. An IVA is the last thing you want to be thinking about right now.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Hopefully you are with one of the better iva firms. Whilst its easy to say your priorities now start and end with spending quality time with all of your children you will need to work with your iva firm to find the best way forward.

Make sure you explore all options to allow you to enjoy the time you have left together, charities etc, are there to be used in times like yours.

I hope that your iva firm allows you to use your time and efforts for the right things.

Good luck and keep posting to let us know how you are getting on.

Sorry to hear about your son. We are in the same situation, but have not approached our IP so unfortunately I cannot offer any advice. We have been blessed to have wishes granted through Ray of Sunshine and Make a Wish, so our wee girl has had experiences we could never afford to give her.

Thank you for all of your replys, thankfully we are a close family and are well supported, and we keeping positive. We are going through Payplan, who have been very good, they recommended we take a payment break just after his diagnosis, in which time we had to move to a more suitable home. Repayments resumed in Nov, but leave little room to do much as we are a family of 8. I had not considered asking about a final settlement. We have 2years remaining, and ideally would like to see it through. I speak with a new case office tomorrow. Thank you once again for your support.

I would seriously consider the payment to date offer and ask your creditors to consider this for you. You have to spend the time now with your family, and not be constantly worrying over the iva. Hopefully your IP will concur with this and put your offer through for you so that it is approved.
