Hi Basically our iva had ended last June we were told that everything was in order and we would have a certificate by September. They then (a week later) said there was a huge back log and the certificate would be delayed and it would be received by that end of January. They have now contacted us and told us there is a review outstanding from 2011 and we need to pay an extra £4000. When I asked to speak directly with the IP they said this was not allowed as he does not take calls
Hmmm ... I don't think they are alone in denying access to the IP -- which I think is deplorable!
I would initially ask for a complete breakdown of how they have arrived at this figure and why it has now come to light. It is your IP's statutory duty to carry out annual reviews and, if he has missed one completely there are grounds for a formal complaint.
If you don't get a satisfactory explanation you will need to go through their internal complaints procedure. If that fails you need to complain to their regulators, using this link:
How awful for you. I hope you get this sorted soon. Even though we have fully complied with our IVA its a constant worry for me that this will happen to us at the end .
I considered it basic manners to speak with someone who has so much control over your daily living!
Melanie, this is not the first time I have asked to speak with him I have always been fobbed off with he's not in the office/in meetings etc. It was only when I pushed it during a call last week. The call handler started with he's not in the office, so I asked when he was next scheduled to be in to which she didn't know the answer. When I asked to speak with someone who deals with his diary I was then told ips do not accept clients calls. I always assumed the ip was ultimately responsible for our iva?!
