Hindsight is a wonderful thing, Michael - we did what we felt was best at the time! We posted on here - spoke to CAB, a re mortgaging consultant , and PayPlan. We took lots of advice and it would seem still made the wrong decisions - but when you are in a financial mess you tend to lose confidence in your own reasoning and believe what others tell you must be true. Hopefully, the credit file business will not affect us as we have no desire whatsoever to take any credit ever again -- my husband's mobile is on contract but will be PAYG once that ends in March , the car insurance and house insurance are paid monthly and have been since the start of our dealings with PayPlan. We just want it all to be resolved, debts paid back as much as we can and to move on. We have already paid back in excess of what we owed when we cut up our credit cards, etc and appointed PayPlan to help us.
Hindsight is great I agree. However, you case shows the need to get more than one opinion and certainly speak to the independent sector and not just the bank funded ones.
