Hi,

I've recently completed an IVA with early settlement. It was started in June 2011 and completed in May 2013. My credit files have been updated but are still showing defaults up to May 2013 and a couple to July. I have written to all the providers.

Should these defaults be there or should they remove anything after the start date of June 2011?
If they should remain, will they be removed six years from the start date of the IVA ie June 2017 or not until six years after the default date ie May 2019?
One provider with three accounts is showing default dates for June and July this year even though they show as settled in May, are they obliged to remove these?

Thanks very much.

Hi jon123,

Any Companies that were involved in your IVA and have registered defaults against you should have the start date the same as your IVA start date.

That way they will all drop off after 6 years.

I had this issue with 2 of mine and rang them to advise they need to change the date. All they asked for was the completion certificate and they soon changed the dates very quickly

Great, thank you. I'm a bit confused as one lender specifically said they wouldn't remove defaults before the end date and this was in line with data protection but I will keep arguing!

My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
