Hi all, well today my Dad paid off the back payment of 8 months from when I was unemployed last year and Dec 1st will be my last IVA payment.
I'm not sure what to think as its been a slog and just pleased my father was able to clear the payments within the time scale my IVA was in place which was 5 years.
What comes next? I already know that come January, my credit file should zero (thanks to Michael for this info on another post) and the IVA shouldn't show but I'm concerned by comments I've read that my completion certificate could take months to arrive and I'm not in the clear until it does, is this true?
Does this mean I will stay on the IR until it arrives and do I have to send the certificate to anyone to update credit files etc?
We don't have equity or anything like that to release as we are renting so thats good I think.
Also, GT sent a form regarding PPI that I filled in months ago and sent of to the company that they were using to track PPI down so does this mean any PPI payments will come back to me or should I just expect this to taken by GT?
Lots of questions I know but its just dawned on me that I'll get my life back with this thing hanging over me and the money I earn will all be mine from now on. Its a surreal feeling but a good one :)
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you
IVA completed!!! Looking forward to getting my life back! Stay positive and you'll get there in the end.

Hopefully GT will move to closure but the main thing is the IVA is over. Your name will come off the register once GT issue the certificate and you can then move on. Congratulations and best wishes for the future.

I'm just wondering, does anyone know whats happening with the PPI thing EIC sent forms out for. I signed and sent them back weeks ago and just hope this thing doesn't come back and haunt me. I don't remember paying PPI on any of my CC or loans so maybe worth asking the IP for details? Not sure what to do as I'm one payment away from completion and don't want anything to come back and haunt me later. Advice anyone?

Based on my experience you may be free from your Iva in 10 mths. I made my final payment in Jan 2013. Still not complete yet!!! Please see my other thread.

I have been told It should go to complete 08/11/13.

Insolvency register takes a few around 5-10 days to process and removal is 3 mths. I will be sending over my CC soon as I receive it. Just noticed you are with GT, same here :-(:-( . I have put a complaint in against them.

I hope yours is quicker than mine.

Rappy.

Thanks Rappy, I can't believe it takes that long! Wow! 10 months! NO! Whys that? I thought née you paid and got your CC, that was it and IR would be updated within 3 months and credit files from this January?
I don't have any equity to release or anything like that, I made payments religiously without missing any in the 5 years I have had the IVA until I lost my job last year and then couldn't pay, I told them straight away and once I got back to into work, I restarted paying straight away with the agreement my IVA would last an extra 8 months ( the time I was out of a job) so as to pay the arrears but my Dads made the arrears payment today so their clear and so my IVA can end on time as per the original agreement. Theres one last payment in Dec and thats it...so I thought... I really hope its the end of it then and I get a CC pretty quickly. 10 frigging months! Thats madness!
I've never had a problem with GT at all and always found them to be understanding especially when I lost my job and things were pretty tough for us, they gave me the room to find something with no pressure or hassle like some have said they have had. I am worried about this PPI thing though as whatever is there to claim, they can keep it as I don't relish revisiting this again but from what I've read, they don't close the IVA until that is sorted?. Not sure what to think now but thank you for the advice.

I found Grant Thornton great until I paid them my final payment.

There closure team is not exactly speedy. First I was told 6 wks, then 6 mths, 3 mths followed by 3 wks & now this Friday.

If it goes to complete Friday I will be shocked!!!!.

PPI will take around 6mths. Then it goes through the GT sausage machine of finalising etc......... I guess you will still be on here this time next year.

Oh dear, I hope they sort this out asap for you. It would seem someone is dragging their feet with your case!
I'll be bugging them about mine once my last payment comes out. I'm not one for being fobbed off!

Same here, I emailed at every time scale. There is no direct dial number just a scripted email.

Good Luck!!! Let's see if I get my promised yet again completion paperwork due today.

They blame PPI for the delay so that is at least 6 mths. What has happened the rest of the year?

Basically, you can email to your hearts content. But it will only get processed when they can be bothered.

I was expecting it to be all done by July/August.

November and another promised date!!!

Lets hope yours comes through today. I'm going to call them today to tell them that my last payment is Dec 1st so will ask about the finalisation. As for PPI, they can have it is there is anything there, I really don't want anything to come back from GT to deal with months down the line.

Sorry if I seem a bit sceptic but with due course.

PPI normal time scales are 6 mths. So that will be the first and last form of verbal communications via GT.

It then moves onto their closure team. You can only contact them via e mail.

Like I said I could never fault GT while I was making payments. And that’s the point. You will move into a whole new ball game with the closures team. Why you do not have a dedicated person to contact is beyond me.

I hope someone from GT is reading this and will take action asap!!!.

Ok, I see. Well, I'll call today and see what info I can get. I'm not expecting much but none the less, there will a record I called.
I hope GT have sorted any problems out with their closures team as it seems that being efficient and helpful is not being adhered to by this team. Very odd...
