I have finally finished my IVA however Payplan have yet to send me my certificate of completion. I am wanting to get on with my life but apparently the debtors are squabbling over PPI and that means my certificate is delayed. Accounts apparently said they have no date for the completion as yet. I never knew they could do such a thing! I feel hard done by as my life is essentially on hold. We want to purchase a new home and a car and cannot do much at all because of this IVA. Is there anything I can do t push this into fruition faster? Feels like so near and yet so far!

I don't see why matters like this would affect the completion of your case. Your IP can take an assignment of your claim, and any adjustment could be affected once the IVA has been closed. Are they not able to give you any idea of timescale?

Sorry for the delay in replying. No - they actually told me that they were unable to give me a time frame. My IVA still remains open despite making all my payments. I had no idea that Payplan could allow this to happen. I am finding the whole thing very frustrating.

Then I think that you need to ask them for a full report of the current situation with regard to your PPI claims.

I'm in exactly the same position with PayPlan, despite there being a variation agreeing to IVA's being settled prior to PPI being sorted. They have said that as two creditors have offset their PPI against their debt instead of it being distributed amongst all my creditors, they can't issue the completion certificate until that is sorted and can't give me a timescale.

It would be helpful if someone from Payplan could respond to this complaint and help find a way forward . Surely an IVA can`t have an open ended finish date once all payments have been made ?

Well guys a bit of an update - I received a phone call stating that things are now finalised and they have treated my case as urgent so I should have my certificate within 2 weeks if not sooner. I will keep you updated, but it is important for people to know the hangups of PPI claims within an IVA term. This kind of mess should never happen really!

Great news all! I have now received my certificate. Sensible77 I hope you have the same great outcome. I must say my case manager was brilliant at chasing Payplan's accounts department to get this processed and he kept me up to date at all times. So glad it's over! Now to figure out how to buy a house at last!

Well Done ! Onward and upward :-)

Have a word with Ryan or Shaun about mortgages -- they have helped quite a few posters between them. You can get their details under the "Ask An Expert" tab, top left.

Hi, jammawoman. Thanks for the kind comment. I rang PayPlan today and I should have my certificate by the first week of December. I hope it goes well with getting a mortgage.
