Hello everyone,

I have a question for a good friend of mine who started an IVA back in 2008 with Wilson Phillips (remember them?!). The IVA failed after a few months but now he is looking to buy a house and get his credit straight. Some how, many of his debitors never really went after him afterwards.

The people at Experian told him to get in touch with the original IVA company to request a certificate of failure for the IVA (he never got one) - however, that company was Wilson Phillips who no longer exists. We had a look on the insolvency register and his name is no longer on there.

Can anyone help or advise what to do next? I am asking for him as I was telling him how amazing this forum is for helping!

I do remember that firm Cherrypink - and am sure that their cases were ultimately sent to Grant Thornton when they sold their portfolio.

His IP has a duty to retain a record of his IVA for 10 years following its closure, so if he can find out the person who actually acted for him - I think David Bottommly used to be an IP there at one time, then we can try and help him to track him down. Has he kept any paperwork relating to the IVA which might provide some clues?

Hi Melanie

Oh thanks for responding. There must be a reference number somewhere in his emails, would this be of any help? Or his old address etc.

The name of the IP who acted for him is the most useful information you can get hold of.
