It is likely that entering an IVA is a breach of the terms of the HP.
This would allow the HP company to repossess the car, sell it and then claim any shortfall in the IVA.
However in practise provided you have no arrears and there is an allowance to make the full payment to the HP company in your proposals, most HP companies do not seek to repossess.

Our main car was and is still on HP in our iva with Toyota FS. The payments were protected similar to a mortgage or secured loan would be. I wouldn't expect that you would lose the car unless VW are anti-iva. Once our HP agreement ends, the iva payment increases equal to the HP value.
I have seen some posts previously starting that vw may be anti iva. I would advise you speak to your ip. Maybe one of the experts will be able to pick this up for you.
