Hi I've never had problems getting insurance where i've paid monthly. I've changed to a different insurers twice since I've been on an IVA to get a cheaper deal. Last year i was with AVIVA and this year the cheapest deal I got was with KWIK fit. Fingers crossed I'll have no porblems again this year.

It does seem to be very hit and miss.

Perhaps we should compile a list of those companies willing to take those of us with a less than perfect credit record on a monthly basis.

Spoke too soon, I received an email today from Endsleigh informing me that the company that provide finance for the monthly payments 'Premium Credit' have in fact rejected me. It's only for around £700 for goodness sake but I'm back to square one :-(

Not good Bob. I'm sure one of our other posters will help.

Have you tried the Co-op? Quite a few posters (myself included) have had insurance with them and paid monthly.

we are with kwik fit but took ours out in feb last year before we took on the IVA, plus we did pay in full but it was only £300, the renewal is due soon and I'm pretty sure we are going to be faced with the same problem, I have the money available to pay in full again but would prefer to pay monthly as with everything else that has gone wrong lately I could do with the money to get hubby some tyres for his car, am hoping kwik fit's renewal will be about the same as last year and that they will allow us to pay monthly instead without a credit check

Not tried the CO-OP but will do, thanks.

I'm furious with Endsleigh, what a waste of time. Their website actually states that IVA's are ok as long as not started in the last 12 months and I rang to check before buying on-line. Their credit control dept were very apologetic but are powerless to help as the finance company have said they won't take people with an IVA at all.

I'm now just hoping I get a full refund of my deposit with no 'admin' charges deducted!

When I first went with the Co-op I paid in full as they couldn't find my address for some reason and because of that they wouldn't accept monthly payments. The following year I changed to monthly payments with no problems and my BR is still on my credit file so I presume they didn't credit check me.

We dove a poster on here, Coveritlall and he does insurance. Not sure about car though. You can find his details under the ask a question link on the left hand of the page.
