Help please - Just had a call from a number I didn't know -said they were a debt advisory firm -telling me the bailiffs would be calling tomorrow !!!! I'm in the process of an IVA with my meeting on the 17th July -haven't even had a CCJ to date - only missed this months payment on all debts -token payments made and I know they are all now aware of the IVA since 29th June, is this a debt firm trying it on or should I be worried as my daughter is in on her own tomorrow. They were very nasty.

Hi

Bailiffs can only attend if the debt has gone to court and there is an unpaid judgement so it clearly sounds like a scare tactic to me, who was the company that phoned you ?

Don't panic....as Andy has said they cannot come if they have not attempted to take you to court....if someone does arrive at the door I would tell your daughter not to open it. I really think they are playing scare tactics and they won't turn up.

Hi

Companies and employees that operate like that need shooting.

You have nothing to worry about

Thank you was so worried appreciate your advice -feel like they are preying on the vulnerable - like I say I know I got myself into this mess but just seems so nasty to prey on people trying to do the right thing.

This is awful. Easier said than done but try not to worry and listen to the advice of the professionals above. Good luck for your meeting next week.

They're going to have a long trip! It's a call centre in India. Try not to worry about it, they're just trying to scare you.

For a bailiff to visit there has to be an unpaid CCJ and clearly they do not know what they are talking about, just don't answer the phone to that number anymore.

If they call again tell them where to go. You should also contact the original creditor and threaten them with their regulators as these people are acting as agents.

A bailiff will not visit you without a court order. Debt collectors on the other hand will try to make you think they are bailiffs, they have no powers of entry and if they start shouting on your doorstep just call the police and make a formal complaint of harassment and intimidation with threats of violence. It will be them up in front of the beak. It's easy for me to say "don't worry", but believe me debt collectors are not legally Bailiffs and can not under any circumstances intimidate you for payment.
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues

Hi, I found your post when I was searching google for the same number as I'd had a missed call from it today. I'm not in an IVA or any arrears with anyone whatsoever so I think you can relax as its probably a scam.

I enter a lot of competitions so think that's where they may have got hold of my number.

Hope that puts your mind at rest a little bit.

Well I would be very interested in knowing who these evil people are who call -they called again today and my daughter answered the phone asked who was calling they answered Debt Advisory Service -she then told the man I was at work at which point he started asking her if she knew what a mess I had got us into and getting very aggressive with her -she answered yes she did know as we talk (bless her) but he continued to be very abusive shouting and aggressive - my daughter eventually told him to go away in the way a 16 year old would !!! I cannot believe there are people out there who are willing to act in this way - I am definitely going to try and find out who this is as I am sure I could complain -i know this is my own doing but I think this behaviour is despicable. She isn't picking the phone up again !!!!
