1 If a client expresses unhappiness with the service provided by this firm, then in the first instance the concerns will be dealt with by the manager responsible for the area that gave rise to the complaint and you will receive a formal response in that regard within one month of the date of this letter. Should we require additional time to investigate the matter, you will of course be advised accordingly.
2 If the matter cannot be resolved by the relevant manager, you can then direct your complaint to my designated senior member of staff Mr Paul Madden at Grant Thornton, Waters Edge, Clarendon Dock, Belfast, BT1 3BH.
3 If you continue to be dissatisfied with my firm's response to your complaint, you can then write to Ms Fiona Beighton - the Head of Quality & Risk Management who deals with any complaints arising from the firm's recovery department - at Grant Thornton UK LLP, 30 Finsbury Square, London, EC2P 2YU.
In the unlikely event that my firm is unable to resolve your complaint you can then complain to my regulatory body – the Insolvency Practitioners Association.

You know this is a very sad state of affairs, what is happening to the world of IVA's at the moment? It's about time that someone somewhere took notice, I know that my case was passed onto the MP for business, maybe the regulators of IVA need to be involved more.
Susan I hope that you get some resolution soon, I remember your earlier posting, good luck.
Om shanti, namesté, good luck to all who are embarking on the IVA journey, it isn't always an easy one but the outcome is the best.
IVA COMPLETED August 2012, received Completion certificate 18.4.13.
Personally, Orchid, I think those with complaints should simultaneously bombard Jo Swinson, the regulators and their MP's.
There are unaddressed flaws due to VAT and PPI, which the Insolvency Service should be addressing for some clarity and a unified approach.
The various firm's internal complaints procedures do not work and some seem to be there purely to obfusicate the matter and hope it disappears. To be honest, most "general" complaints (more blips) DO get handled well by case workers -- but, once it gets to the formal complaint stage, it seems it will go nowhere.
We need to make more noise !!!!

Important to remember not all IP firms are suffering from these difficulties. I am personally fed up with the impression that the whole industry is in disarray - most of us are actually not!
This is true, Mel. I imagine there are only three or four which get the majority of the bad press here. Unfortunately, they are all big players (which might have something to do with their inability to change course) and are tarring the view of the industry as a whole.

Yet I imagine they continue to attract new clients in equal proportion to their existing portfolios, at the expense of smaller, and more specialist firms, who may offer a far better client experience. Not saying that this is the case, of course, just a thought!
