Hi guys thanks for your responses and concerns. I did email Karol, what I got back in response was that, they are legally obliged to offer creditors a 21 day cooling off period, the three to five weeks after that they say is to cover the 'administrative' time. I guess you guys are right. It looks like my certificate will be issued soon, but just seems so excessive. I think after the 21 days I am going to start emailing Karol again and she will then do something about speeding up the process.
Got a reply from Grant Thornton today saying that my case was included in the MVM on 22nd May (nice of them to tell me!) and that the creditors agreed. And they said they will be in the position to issue my closure documents by the end of June 2013.
So maybe I will get it within a year of the F&F payment (although I will not believe anything until it actually comes....)
Paid F&F in July 2012 and received CC in July 2013
No Melanie I wasn't. When I most recently spoke to someone at Grant Thornton in April, I was told that I wouldn't be told in advance about the MVM and that the first I would hear about it would be after it happened.
Thank you for spurring me on to contact Karol about it as if you hadn't I doubt I'd have heard anything else.
I think I have become used to a complete lack of communication being the norm for Grant Thornton - part of me feels maybe it would be reasonable to make an official complaint about it, but I know others have had to wait a lot longer.
Sadly not all firms are the same...

GT decided to make ua a priority for closure because of the length of time we have waited . It is two years and one month today since our final payment left the bank. They held a meeting with our creditors and thankfully we were not aware of it as it would have been another stressful day. It was accepted by them and two weeks later we are hoping for our certificate to arrive . We did sign the spotty letters quite some time ago so I suppose this was our acceptance to let them deal with it.
4kids, apparently those of us imported from other companies will be getting them shortly, although, in my case PPI has already been investigated and sewn up --- however, I imagine I will get one anyway to tie up the possibility of me claiming the refunds are actually due to me.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
Have just received an e-mail from GT informing that the recent MVM that was held was in our case a success. We have been informed that are Comp Cert should be with us within 14 days.Hopefully other GT customers will also start to see the ball rolling.
