I have just been given a laptop as a birthday present and a PAYG dongle. A contract dongle is a lot more economical. The lady at the shop says its a very minimal credit check. I just wonder what my chances are? its with "3" and the contract is £15 a month for about 150 hours worth. I live in Hull, which does not have a BT line (only KC) so we dont have many options to do it via a landline. I dont have a landline under them to save expences.
You should be ok hopefully however as Lesley suggests if you have a contract mobile phone then they may be a good starting point.
The other thing to consider is the need to pay the monthly charge = can you afford this from your current allowances or will you need to request a review ?I would have thought it can be covered as this day and age we are all expected to be available on-line - discuss this with your IP direct.

There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !
Thanks for info. I have a pay as you go mobile. I used to be on contract but it was in the days PAYG was cheaper so switched and regretted a few years ago. Always meant to try for a contract again too but presumed would be hard because of my IVA. Advice on this site is T-mobile is the best to try if on a IVA. My plan is to reduce my current allowance for my mobile phone to fund the dongle but would mention this to the IP. I pay £20 a month PAYG mobile but can get unlimited texts for £5 a month. This would pay for the Dongle. I use the internet at local library for free each day for one hour so yet will take everything into account. Thanks very much for info. Will let you know how I get on (on Friday).
You will be fine with 3, i have just taken out a mobile broadband dongle with 3. I am still in my iva awaiting completion certificate. i have mine on a 1 month rolling contract so no tie in's, i paid 4.99 for the dongle and pay 15.99 a month for 5gb usage.

FULL AND FINAL ACCEPTED, COMPLETION CERTIFICATE NOW IN HAND
Look forward to hearing how you get on Radish - use of dongles is becoming more and more common now so I imagine many will be keen to know the answer.

I was rejected by 3 whilst still in my IVA 18months ago for the exact same you are hoping to do, however geminifm has been succesful, so give 3 a try. I particularly liked the 3 package.
If computer says no at 3 , try T mobile, as they are almost certain to say yes
good luck and be sure to let us know how you get on

I got a contract for a dongle with 3 yesterday. It is £15.99 a month. Im cutting my mobile PAYG payments to pay for it and will put this in a letter to IP. Having said that I am going to look for a mobile phone contract in the near future but for now pleased with this. May wait till my IVA is closer to the finish though. Only got 10 payments left.
Fantastic, try GiffGaff for a PAYG sim, my hubby only pays £5.00 @ month and gets good coverage and 300 texts and 60 mins something simple but if you go for £10 @ month it increases by loads, worth a look.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
