We made our last iva payment Jan this year and received our certificate 9 may, we are no longer on the insolvency registar and i have sent copies of certificate to relevent credit agencies. Our iva started july 06 so we are past the 6 year make already so my question is how long so i need to wait to apply for a current account? We have a basic account with santander i have already asked them about upgrading and we have been declined, im currently waiting for experia to send my credit report out so i can see whats on there to see as why we would be declined. Any advice would be great thanks

Have a look at your credit report before you apply for another account, you may find that there are some incorrectly entered defaults which you will need to address.

You can use your completion certifcate to ask the creditor and/or the CRA to correctly update the information they hold

You'll need to check all 3 CRAs, not just Experian. Equifax and Callcredit may well hold different information.

Only when they're all as clean as a whistle will you have much luck. Equifax will almost certainly still have your IVA showing in the Notice of Correction section of your report - have a look using the search function on the forum and you'll find plenty of examples of this and the means to resolve it.
IVA Completed!

Final payment made November 2011.

CoC received 12/10/12.

If the defaults are wrongly dated you will need to write to the Data Controller of the creditor concerned with a copy of your completion certificate.

You can find details of the data controllers here

Hi,

I would have waited till you got your credit reports from Callcredit,Experian, and Equifax. I am doing that at the moment. Its a minefield and you will be surprised whats on there in the last 6 years. If you were declined then your defaults more than likely were put on incorectly ie wrong date I had 6 like that and an alias that I have never used and addresses I have never stayed at.

Applying for a new account would have put a negative search now on your file. Get all your credit files and start cleaning it up then apply. Good luck Just one more to clean up HFC and its as shiny like a star.[:)]

Ive now checked experian and equifax and they were clear apart from iva on Equifax everything else had completly gone as im over the 6 year mark now, but i have heard santander can be a bit harsh i just thought as we had banked with them for the last 6 years they would see how well we manage our money now.

Yes, I am sorry to say with my experience is they all a bunch of sneaky ******

I have just two problems now T-Mobile and HFC. Then mine is as clean as they come. T-mobile are linking me with my ex!!! and HFC has not replied to 3 letters.

Plane f is on its way good luck but remember keep checking it and get all three reports. Dont trust any of them and what they say keep hacking at them.[:)]
