Hi, I completed my IVA successfully in August 2011 & my completion certificate came through in December 2011. So I began the Credit Report clean up process. I had to write to quite a number of creditors asking them to update records etc so it was all correctly recorded and would be removed 6 years from when my IVA started/default dates were recorded. This was all successfuly done apart from one creditor, Welcome Finance. The situation I am in now is that ALL of my previous debts are now removed totally from my credit reports (over 6 years since defaulted and then started IVA etc) which is great, apart from this loan with Welcome Finance which still appears on my credit file despite the account going into default over 6 years ago and my IVA starting in August 2006. It is showing on Experian as a partially settled loan with a settlement date of Dec 2011 (when my completion certificate was sent to them), which means it would remain on my file till 2017!! Obviously all other lenders have updated my records to ensure nothing remained on file after 6 years of default dates/IVA start date, by marking the debts as settled at the start of my IVA not the end! On Equifax it is even worse as the Welcome Finance loan is shown as in default in 2011, when my IVA was successfully completed!! By Welcome Finance adding a 2011 settled date on Experian & Equifax (and default dates in 2011 on Equifax) it means it has stayed on file. How can I approach this with them to get it all totally removed?

Excellent article here:

And, halfway down on the right hand side under "Useful Documents" a template letter.

Thanks for that Foggy, very useful link!

As my default dates prior to my IVA and the settlement was added once I completed my IVA, I can assume they must remove it now from my records. I did read on the Equifax website that credit agreements stay on your file as follows:

'Six years from the date the account was settled, written off or defaulted – whichever happened first'

Obviously I want it to be from the default date (prior to IVA started in 2006) and NOT the settlement date with is 2011.

Every other creditor has removed debt details, it is just this last one tricky one.

If the loan was in the IVA the latest date they can default will be 2006, so it should drop off in any case.
