Hi all just had our 3rd review and we have had an increase in our payments from £130 to £340.

We were expecting an increase due to the amount of OT we have both worked last year and except that 50% needs paying across ( we dont have the 10% agreement) and we dont pay each month as our wages vary from month to month due to expenses with work but im just worried that if the OT dries up we will struggle with the increase in payment.

We have spent the extra money we earned by paying for urgent house repairs, getting both cars roadworthy and a large vet bill for our dog that unfortunally had to be put to sleep :0(

If the OT does dry up could we ask for a reduction in payments.

We are both currently working on average an extra 40hrs a month each in OT to save for a much neede new boiler and bathroom.

Thanks

Hello kaza. You can ask for a new I&E whenever you feel it necessary. Circumstances change as you are aware, but do it before you start going short.

You should check this with your IP. If the payments have been increased because of overtime that cannot be right. Overtime is not guaranteed and regardless you have already paid your fair share.

Any uplifts should be based on salary increases so unless your salaries have jumped I think this decision is an error and needs checked.

I agree Michael, that is a large hike up. Kaza, call your IP and query this.

totally agree send in your receipts to show what the over time has gone on and ask for it to be looked at again if you only have to pay across 50% of any ot why have they increased your payments by £200

Just a thought -- that does need clearing up with your IP -- as you have not been paying the 50% of overtime each month I expect whoever did the review has taken it that it was not overtime ( as it has not been declared as such ) and has included it in your regular income.

Obviously this is wrong -- however you are still due to pay over the 50% of overtime you have been earning.

Thanks

I've contacted gt and explained that's its Ot and isn't guaranteed income they just replied with its ok if u struggle just phone us and we will review but given gt reputation I'm just a bit anxious!!

I really have no prob with paying the 50% over and because of the amount of Ot we have been doing (at least 80 hrs a month) we are basically flogging ourself to death and incurring extra travel expenses just to pay for things that needed fixing because we are in yr3 of the iva and have had no money to keep ontop of fixing/servicing things. Our cars cost £1500 alone last September as they both broke down/failed mot but we had the money to pay so we happly did. (Although that money was saved for a new boiler which we still need)

To be honest we just want the iva done and dusted and don't want to go back to gt to ask for payment breaks etc etc we have already had a variation due to ever increasing living allowances and looking after a chronically ill child that needs a very healthy diet which has resulted in paying into the iva a further year.

As long as we can ask for a review if the Ot dries up that's ok.

We got ourselves into this mess ......... We just want to get out of the mess sooner rather than later let's just hope the next 3 years fly then we can have a life again and maybe the Ot can pay for a much needed holiday :0) x

Thanks everyone x

I wouldnt trust GT to be as helpful when it comes to OT drying up. Your payment should be based on basic wage and OT dealt with separately. I would not be happy.

DI should never be based upon unguaranteed overtime. However, GT will assist where they can should it stop -- they have recently granted me a reduction. But it shouldn't have to come to that.

Email Karol on IVACustomerServices@uk.gt.com putting only "IVA Forum" in the subject line and ask for a review of the review.

If you send them a copy of the receipts they should be able to adjust your payments. I had emergency expensive car repairs and sent them receipts. they took them into account and adjusted my payments.

i was lied to about most things from my IP. Was told i couldnt get car on finance as they would not give me permission. I did it anyway then just rang and told them i had no choice if i wanted to get to work. They adjusted my payments instantly.
If at first you dont succeed then just ring again and speak to someone else!

It just doesn't bode well if someone's di is worked out including overtime.

I would push GT to work out your di based on your normal take home pay and then pay 50% of any additional ovetime each month.

If you haven't been doing this every month then come to some agreement to clear the arrears over X number of months.

There is no point in flogging yourself to death by doing all this overtime if you cannot enjoy 50% of it.

Your annual review ought to be based on your basic salary alone - unless the IVA was based upon a certain amount of overtime being earned.

Your IVA has provision for dealing with additional monies earned - and your IP cannot have it both ways!

Well I have had a fast and timely response by GT but they have reviewed our case and they stand by their reveiw and maintain our basic salary has incresed by an inflated £642 extra a month!!!!!

They have adjusted some of our outgoings (to max cccs guildlines) to help balance the difference.

I just hope we can continue to maintain the IVA payments should the OT dry up!!

On my calculations our payments should of increased by £100 per month.

They have said should the OT stop they would "look" are reducing our payment following another review of our I&E.

Roll on Nov 15!!
