Hi guys, I have a bit of a dilemma on my hands at the moment. I am with Cleardebt and have been contacted by them about this PPI business (I mentioned it on the 7th of December) but as of yet I still haven't heard from DRSP.
I got the letter from Cleardebt saying that DRSP would contact me within 7 days and that also letters would go out to my creditors informing them that they would be investigating a possible PPI claim.
Anyway I prepared everything that was asked of me in the original letter, I found a credit agreement number from a loan I had years ago (not included in my IVA as It was paid off long ago) I downloaded and printed off my current credit report and have found old statements from my existing credit agreements (though not many tbh).
What did happen though was that I received a letter from one of my creditors just after Christmas asking me if I felt I was mis-sold PPI and it came in the form of a questionnaire. I filled it in and sent it off because considering I hadn't heard from DRSP I assumed it was part of the investigation and actually thought I was helping the process by doing so.
I then waited a couple of days thinking DRSP would contact me but heard nothing so I then rang Cleardebt to inform them I had no contact and also to tell them about the questionnaire. After telling my supervisor about this I was told that I shouldn't of done that and it may affect the PPI investigation among other things.
I was also told that I may not get the 500 pound goodwill gesture either because of what I had done, though I am not concerned about that because I think it's a bit cheeky taking money from my creditors when that money should go into my IVA to pay back what I owe.
I will of course inform DRSP / Cleardebt of all developments regarding this issue and will be honest and open with DRSP and tell them everything I've done once they contact me.
What I am concerned about though is have I made a major mistake regarding and risking my IVA by filling in that questionnaire and also if PPI has been missold have I effectively ruined DRSPs chance of reclaiming it (from that one creditor)?
Sorry for going on but am a bit worried about this situation!
Wow, after being so up front and honest (which is the best way of course) you seem to have been treated as though you have done wrong, I think your company has something to explain if they work this way, it just points to them feeling they get a better return if they let DSRP handle it, not sure how that would work as the creditiors would get a larger return if captured unless there is a link with DSRP and some interest for that IVA company.
Took The plunge and made the call, changed our family life and we have never been happier. Debt free and wont go back..... IVA was by far the best thing we ever did to teach us the real value of Family and money
I cannot see that you have done anything wrong here at all - although I have no knowledge of the internal dealings of either ClearDebt or their claims management company - but am sure that if David Mond sees your post on the forum he will want to reassure you directly that no harm has been done. PPI reclaims are confusing for all parties at the moment - including IP firms as well as their clients!
Hi guys, sorry didn't respond sooner. Have been stuck in Norfolk for the last couple of days because of the snow!
Thank you all for your comments and advice, I feel much happier about the situation so once these DRSP people contact me (Still b***** waiting though lol) I can finally put this thing to bed and concentrate on getting through the next 4 years!
